Norris Leads Piastri in Brazilian Practice Session

Lando Norris edged out fellow driver and championship contender the Australian for the quickest lap in the final moments of the practice session at the Brazilian Grand Prix.

Norris, who grabbed the title advantage from his teammate by just one point after winning in the Mexican Grand Prix recently, beat the Melbourne-born driver by a mere 0.023s.

Before then, Oscar Piastri had been the quickest of the McLaren pair throughout the hour before the sprint shootout set to begin at 6:30 PM GMT.

The Red Bull star, the other racer in the championship fight, sitting with a 36-point deficit behind Norris, finished in P17 as his Red Bull team ran a unique setup.

His teammate the Japanese driver was the only driver to crash, if briefly, when he rotated at corner four early in the session.

Tsunoda lost control over the curbs on exit before spinning across the escape zone, and was fortunate to avoid just a slight brush of the fence.

The Ferrari of the seven-time champion also spun, at the conclusion of the practice, rotating twice through the fast downhill corner before the final bend on to the start-finish straight.

Hamilton wrapped up in P19, one place behind teammate Charles Leclerc.

The McLaren drivers were well clear of the rest of the field, with Nico Hulkenberg's car in third, 0.619 seconds slower than Piastri's pace.

Aston Martin's the Spanish driver was fourth fastest, with the Sauber of Gabriel Bortoleto fifth from Mercedes' George Russell and the Alpine of Pierre Gasly and Williams' Carlos Sainz.
